These shots were taken in Big Bend National Park in November 2005. This was the second trip that we've made to Big Bend. I've written a trip report page HERE. It was a short trip, but very sweet.

We did an overnight hike along the Elephant Tusk Trail and then camped in the Basin on the second night. We hiked the Lost Mines Trail on our final morning in the park.

All shots were taken with a Canon 20D and Canon 17-40mm (except the sunrise with the orange sky and layered mountains- I used a 70-200mm f/4L). The photos on the trip report page were mostly taken with the wide angle zoom. I think there were a few taken with the telephoto zoom. All the shots in La Kiva were taken with a Canon 28mm f/1.8.

This was also the first time I really concentrated on taking snapshots. I know that sounds silly, but on previous outings with my camera, I had focused only on shooting those "keepers"- the shots you'll print and frame and possibly add to a portfolio. During this trip, I knocked the resolution down to 4MB and snapped away. The result is a nice collection of photos (found on the trip report page) that document our trip!
